Testimonials from our members

The best form of advertising – so they say – is by word of mouth so with that in mind we would be pleased if you read what our members say about us and the service we offer.

Christine

I started volunteering at the Artrium over 2 years ago. I have gained more self confidence which has enabled me to be more creative and further my art through further education.

I am broadening my art passion further. Art is all about learning and sharing. I want to gain a BTEC Diploma in Art & Design something that will help me further

May

I have always enjoyed arts and crafts and attending the Artrium has enabled me to create and to learn new techniques from others, I in turn have passed on my skills to others.

Creating cards for all occasions enables me to bring smiles and individuality to peoples lives which makes me feel proud and happy that I have made a person smile. Don’t forget, don’t throw away your old cards – bring them to us where we can make another person smile.

“I have been coming to the Artrium for over a year now. Since coming here my confidence has grown and I feel confident to talk to people whereas before I just sat in my flat all day long. The staff and volunteers are very helpful and I have been able to do all sorts of things. I do struggle sometimes but the staff encourage you and are there to help – you could not ask for better staff. They are very understanding and easy to talk to”.

John

“I have been involved in one way or the other for many years. Since coming I have gained a lot of self confidence, made a lot of new friends and have completed many projects. My artwork has been donated to a special needs sci-fi fan at Thornaby, sci-fi is an inspiration to my art work. The PC’s at the Artrium help me research my work. The Artrium has also given me the opportunity to work as a support worker for the Hartlepool Borough Council”

“I came to the Artrium after having suffered a brain haemorrhage/stroke and stayed at home for 16 months. I have not been here very long but my family say that I am a changed person. I would be lost without the Artrium, the staff and the members that attend. It’s just like a family.

Alison

“I have only been attending the Artrium for a short while and before coming here I sat and watched TV all day. I have met loads of interesting people and have enjoyed doing pottery”.
